10 Principles for Peaceful Life
Most of us create our own problems by interfering too often in others’ affairs. We do so because somehow we have convinced ourselves that our way is the best way, our logic is the perfect logic and those who do not conform to our thinking must be criticized and steered to the right direction, i.e. our direction. This thinking denies the existence of individuality and consequently undermines the Intelligence and Creativity that is only attributed to Allah. Allah has created each one of us in a unique way. No two human beings can think or act in exactly the same way. All men or women act the way they do because Allah has made each one of us different, with different personalities. Be patient with one another, and mind your own business and you will keep your peace.
Forgive And Forget:
This is the most powerful aid to peace of mind, but also challenging to achieve. We often develop ill feelings inside our heart for the person who insult us or harm us. We nurture grievances resulting in loss of sleep, development of stomach ulcers, and high blood pressure. We further aggravate stress in ourselves by remembering, and reminding ourselves of the very persons that caused us harm. Get over this bad habit. Life is too short to waste in such trifles. Forgive, forget, and march on. Love flourishes in giving and forgiving.
Do Not Crave For Recognition:
This world is full of selfish people. They seldom praise anybody without selfish motives. They may praise you today because you are in power, but no sooner than you are powerless; they will forget your achievement and will start finding faults in you. Why do you wish to kill yourself in striving for their recognition? Do your duties ethically and sincerely, and only seek the pleasure of Allah through Salah and Ibadah.
Do Not Be Jealous:
We all have experienced how jealousy can disturb our peace of mind. You know that you work harder than your colleagues in the office, but sometimes they get promotions; you do not. You started a business several years ago, but you are not as successful as your neighbour whose business is only a one year old. There are several examples like these in everyday life. Should you be jealous? N0. Remember, a person’s life is shaped by their destiny, which becomes their reality. If you are destined to be rich, nothing in the world can stop you.
Change Yourself:
If you try to change the environment single-handedly, the chances are you will fail. Instead, change yourself to suit your environment. As you do this, even the environment, which has been unfriendly to you, will mysteriously change and seem congenial and harmonious.
Endure What Cannot Be Cured:
Every day we face numerous inconveniences, ailments, irritations, and accidents that are beyond our control. If we cannot control them or change them, we must learn to put up with these things. We must learn to endure them cheerfully. Believe in yourself and you will gain in terms of patience, inner strength and will power.
Do Not Bite Off More Than You Can Chew:
We often tend to take more responsibilities than we are capable of. This is done to satisfy our ego. Know your limitations. Why take on additional loads that may create more worries? You cannot gain peace of mind by expanding your external activities. Reduce your material engagements and spend time in prayer, and introspection. It will prevent you from thinking of matters that upset you. An uncluttered mind is a peaceful mind.
Make Regular Dhikr:
Dhikr, the remembrance of Allah, calms the mind and gets rid of disturbing thoughts. Try it yourself. If you do tasbih, dhikr, whenever you are free, your mind will be at peace during the day. Your mind will not be easily disturbed as it was before. You may think that this will interfere with your daily work. On the contrary, this will increase your efficiency and you will be able to produce better results in less time.
Never Leave The Mind Vacant:
An empty mind is the devil’s workshop. Keep your mind occupied in something positive, something worthwhile and negative thoughts will not plague your mind. Actively follow a hobby, something that holds your interest. You must decide what you value more: money or peace of mind. Your hobby, like social work or religious work, may not always earn you more money, but you will have a sense of fulfillment and achievement. Even when you are resting physically, occupy yourself in healthy reading or mental chanting of God’s name.
Do Not Procrastinate And Never Regret:
Do not waste time in protracted wondering, “Should I or shouldn’t I?” You can never plan enough because you can never fully anticipate all future happenings. Value your time and do the things that need to be done now. It does not matter if you fail the first time, so long as you don’t leave it for tomorrow. You can learn from your mistakes and succeed the next time. Sitting back and worrying will lead to nothing.
DO NOT REGRET. Whatever happened was destined to happen. Why cry over spilt milk?
Re-start
One of the reason I've stopped posting here is the existence of FaceBook. With easier way to connect with my friends all over the world (as I have friend from each counrty .. lol) ... this blog being neglected. However, I do feel, writing will always helps in its own way .. tho my writing skill is not at a par of journalist level.
Being often (or prhaps 24/7) on FaceBook, one of my friend *Syuke Atta* sent me a good link, VERY GOOD link indeed.
Do not Be Sad .. that is the title of the link am talking about. Many things that being posted there, I think I've known it. But, then reading it and watching the vid clip from that site somehow give me sort of WAKE UP call or I can say a SLAP on my face. Things I knew, things I've been taught before, things I neglected, etc etc .. being presented in a easy and friendly way.
I would share some of the post here from now on. :-)

YES I WILL .. Indeed
I didn't know where to turn to
See somehow I can't forget you
After all that we've been through
Going coming thought I heard a knock
Who's there no one
Thinking that I deserve it
Now I realize that I really didn't know
If you didn't notice you mean everything
Quickly I'm learning to love again
All I know is I'ma be ok
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time
I couldn't turn on the TV
Without something there to remind me
Was it all that easy
To just put aside your feelings
If I'm dreaming don't wanna laugh
Hurt my feelings but that's the path
I believe inAnd I know that time will heal it
If you didn't notice boy you meant everything
Quickly I'm learning to love again
All I know is I'ma be ok
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time
Since there's no more you and me
It's time I let you go
So I can be free
And live my life how it should be
No matter how hard it is I'll be fine without you
Yes I will
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time

ISMAIL : The Last Days
Earlier on, when I read the first few chapters .. I was inspired by his determination in pursing complete his medical degree in Australia after about 3 years wasted in Singapore. How he led his life in Melbourne .. all the difficult times he had and how well he adapted with new life.. all of these gave me some encouragement. Well some of you know why this kind of things really inspired me that time .. hint hint .. early 2007 .. :-)
Towards the end of the book .. is about Tun Ismail's involvement in government administration .. I prefer to use this term rather than politic .. as he did not really want to get involve in politic but he did join as to fight for Tanah Melayu independency together with Tunku, Cheng Lock and few other country men. Tun Ismail is one of the founder of independent Tanah Melayu.
When asked to join UMNO, the condition he gave was .. only if UMNO fight for Tanah Melayu independency .. hence .. when UMNO led by Tunku, he became UMNO member. He resign from goverment due to health reason ... but has been brought back into government administration after the bloody 13th May happened. He returned into government as Home Minister ..and with Tun Razak (deputy premier that time) they managed the riot well.
When he wanted to resign as he promised his family to do so when the emergency has over ... Tun Razak asked him to stay ... and giving him a heavier task .. to be his deputy ... Tun Razak gonna be Malaysia premier that time as Tunku resigning. With full of responsibility he accepted the post. Both of them needed each other as Tun Razak and Tun Ismail were not in good health condition, they were suffering from leukemia and cancer respectively.
Tun Ismail .. from a medical doctor, he left his profesional job .. and became a countryman ,, not because of he wanted it to get name .. to get famous or to be honoured but due to his sense of responsibility.
Tun Ismail Bin Hj Abdurahman .. a reluctant politician devoted his life for his country name Malaysia. In fact he sort of abandon his own family to save many more families. To all MALAYSIAN ... we are in debt with Tun Ismail family.
I wonder .. is out there any politician who devoted his/her life purely for our country?? emmmm
Anyway, this story of Tun Ismail has been translated into a musical theatre, performing at KLpac till end of August. Just watched it tonight with Murni. We suppose to watch it last week . but could not get a good seat for that particualr nite .. hence we decided to watch it tonight .. who knows .. who were lucky enough .. Raja Perempuan Perak, Tuanku Bainun and the kerabat were among us. :-)
She was the one with the most beautiful voice during the play
Tun Ismail's view which so relevant to current situation in Malaysia.
"Bumiputera special rights same as handicap in golf", one day Malays will think this special right as a shameful to them.
He was against the New Economic Policy which introduced by Tun Razak as he thought it will make Malays become very dependent .. well .. Tun Ismail quite true, not the policy itself which is not good .. but those people implemeting it ... using it as political weapon.
As Home Minister, when he introduced ACA, he mentioned that ACA will be under his ministry for few years and should be an independent body after that .. emm how long already .. now only the movement towards becoming an independent body.

VLED
Got a chance to attend a talk by Dr Anthony R Leeds, at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, UPM.
VLED is a total diet replacement with an energy content between 450 kcal to 800 kcal, in the form of fortified liquid meals which provide vitamin, mineral, trace elements, essential fatty acieds requirement on a daily basis. This source of food usually administered over 12 - 16 weeks period, however recent guideline from UK National Institute for Clinical Excellence indicates this should be limited to 12 weeks.
This idea of VLED far back in 1920. It has faced an initial problem with the use of low quality and insufficient protein and inadequate vitamin & mineral supply. However has been corrected in early 1970s. The approach of VLED base on theory, where once body achieved a greater energy deficit than a low energy diet, this will result in greater rate of weight loss. Due to energy requirement is differ from each indivual rate of weight loss ~1.5 kg/week and ~2 kg/week for women and men respectively.
Follow up study for a minimum a year shown a significantly and dramatically drop in body weight after 6 month of VLED diet. However, this drop started to gain back another 10 kg and reach the same weight as those having other program (diet+exercise, drug therapy). The end point, VLED resulted the same as diet+exercise and drug therapy.
This regimen of diet is definately for short term as in
-preparation for bariatric and also other surgery
-where a clinical conditions limit control of energy intake pr energy utilisation such as in osteoarthritis.
-where best current therapeutic practice has failed to achieve desired outcomes such as in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Personally, there is a doubt about this approach in T2DM management as this VLED kind of neglecting the actual cause of T2DM; physical inactivity and visceral obesity. Myself I'm still so much believe the best approach is lifestyle modification (diet and exercise). However, as the speaker also stated .. this VLED is for short term usage hence this regimen of diet might be able to give somehow an encouragement and motivation to those trying to reduce weight. Have to make sure, any patient undergoing this VLED is well informed about the weight gain after the significant loss.
Not to forget, the weight loss is due to very low energy intake hence body might switch its metabolic condition into hunger state, resulted in lower BMR., which is not so good. In any condition, exercise, need to be incorporated as muscle need to be activated. Weight loss due to VLED is a general weight loss meaning to say, body will loose both lean and fat mass. Loosing lean mass (muscular part) could lead to sarcopenia. Again, contradict to what shld be achieved in T2DM management.

GYM HOUR
Was at the free weight area, about an hour before the peak hour, the here was one hamba Allah ni .... he was sitting on the multi function bench (basically for chest press n squat)..as usual this guy .. always with hand phone. He already on the phone when I reached there ... with his not so nice voice ... been talking like he was in his own personal room.
The clock ticking .. people came and left .. but he .. emm .. not even moved from that bench. Been talking on the phone (LOUD) ... for aboout 50 mins!
OMG .. definate I tag him as SELFISH! .. for 50 mins he was on the phone .. so many people can use that bench .. Gosh .. I really cant think of this situation .. WHT he talking there .. blocking others from using that bench.
Well .. 50 mins! gone .. then he resume his work out .. with that guided bench he did bench press with 15kg ... and gosh .. he can moan like having sex .... Guided/supported chest press with 15kg .. yet .. the moan like he was doing free weight chest press for 80kg .. come on! ..
He did moan as well for 22lbs biceps curl ... aiyooo .. wat la wei ... (hint) ..
This fella ... put his towl on the incline chest press ... did one set .. then left for few minutes ... no one could use the bench till he really done his work out .. dushh ... wasting time and SELFISH too.
And one more thing .. this particular "mute" member ... always dimply left the weights he use everywhere .. nevere returned to where he took it. Adoiii ..
The bench that Mr Mute usedWhenever in the gym
1) Please be considerate .. other member paying the same fees as you do.
2) Please please return the weights accordingly (some PTs dont return the weight too sometimes)
3) Reduce/control your moaning .. :P .. keep it and show it to your partner that you enjoying the intimate session ... BUT not when working out in the gym.

The author (curi from jeff Ooi's)GROCERRIES
===========
A weekly grocerries at my favorite place ... a weekend activity .. I like this place as it is near my aunty's place .. as going back to my aunty's also my weekend activity .. hence this particular supermarket become one of my favorite place to shop for my grocerries.
A point I wanna share here is ... sometimes the cashier might do mistake.. such as key in or scan the item double ... emm regardless purposely or mistakenly ... so do make it a habit to check bill everytime make payment, especially if buying more than one for the same item.
Today, she scanned my DHA gold eggs twice .. 1st .. she already key in the quantity (2) .. then for the second rack.. she scanned it again .. hence become 3 racks of eggs, where by .. I only took 2. Luckily I checked my bill, so I got back my RM4.85 which being extra charged on me.
So which supermarket am pointing at .. emmm

LIFE ADAPTATION
After that ... another price increase .. well not yet at the time I'm typing this entry but it will be soon .. the electric tarif, TNB need more benefits.
With these two items's price increased everyone knows.. everyone witnesses a lot more thing will be increase in term of pricing .. well (hopefully in term of quality too).
And, the latest "good" news is, gym membership will increase effective next month. I heard it would be from 3 - 5% ... gosh.
Adaptations that I will and I'm doing it now in attempt to curb with all these increment ...
1) Spend time in office as long as I could.
I do remember one of my senior collegue told me .. when he was studying in Manchester Uni, he spent most of his time in his lab and library. Save on electricity bill as he didnt need to on the house heater for such long hours. As for me .. I will try to do all my computer- and internet related job in office. Sound a bit selfish as after all I wont save the usage of energy ... just save my own electric bill. Cant help .. hahahaha ... gotta be more selfish nowadays I guess.
2) Maximise the gym membership.
Hahahaha .. FitnessFirst gonna increase the membership fees .. then I will increase my utilization. Bring laptop .. online and do some of my work in the gym while waiting for the class or work out session - save electric bill. Morning and evening shower at the gym ....some of my frieds know how long I spend my tiem for shower kekeke... I guess this adaptation will save on water bill.
Let see the compliance for these tow adaptations ..
